Kristyne and Courtney

Kristyne Dolan and Courtney Figueira were born in Montreal and moved to Calgary in 2012. When Kristyne discovered they could buy a home through the Attainable Home Ownership Program, the couple’s future in Calgary became more certain.

“What I love most about my new home is that it’s mine! I can come home after a day of work and feel like I’m finally home. That this is where I belong,” says Kristyne.

“Not to be worried about trying to save up for a large down payment, not having that weighing down on us, it is a huge relief and gives us a head start on our next chapter in life.”

Kristyne and Courtney bought a two-bedroom apartment condo at SkyWest in SkyView Ranch – one of the fastest growing communities in the city. The floor plan is larger than the unit the couple was previously renting, which was also in SkyView Ranch.

“We are finding it easy to afford as we are getting more for our money space-wise,” says Kristyne, “and the fact that we now own our very own place, that we can have the way we like, is a wonderful feeling.”

AHCC has offered nearly 100 attainable units at SkyWest by Truman Homes. With granite countertops, premium cork flooring, and a high-end stainless steel appliance package, the brand new units are exceptional value and have low condo fees.

Kristyne said the process of buying an attainable home was very straightforward and she encouraged others to explore the idea.

“I went into this thinking there was no way I could buy a place,” says Kristyne. “It was simple, clear and fast, and before I knew it, my possession date arrived!”

“AHCC helped me enter the property ladder so much faster than I ever thought imaginable.”

Attainable Homes Calgary Corporation (AHCC) is a nonprofit social enterprise and wholly owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary that delivers well-appointed, entry-level homes for Calgarians who have been caught in the city’s growing housing affordability gap.

Through our Attainable Home Ownership Program, we connect builders, developers, lenders, lawyers and others to bring down the upfront costs of ownership so qualifying Calgarians can buy their very own home with a $2,000 down payment. Furthermore, when you decide to buy an attainable home, you're also choosing to pay it forward to help another family in the future. When you eventually decide to refinance or sell your home on the market, a share of the appreciation goes back into the program to fund more developments that will help even more people get a foot on the property ladder.

Do you aspire to own a home of your own? Contact us today and let us show you just how attainable this milestone can be.
