On the sunny morning of June 16th, 2025, Jaydan Tait and Kate Thompson, presidents & CEOs of Attainable Homes Calgary and CMLC respectively, shared with media details of our new townhome community in Albert Park/Radisson Heights. And of course, there was a ceremonial tossing of some dirt!
Work to prepare the site for the eventual construction of 230 townhomes is underway in this vibrant community east of downtown.
With Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) as the landowner, Kate Thompson shared the background of this property. The former David D. Oughton school site was purchased by CMLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary, like Attainable Homes) in 2018. In 2023, CMLC and AHC finalized a partnership for the 8.77 acre site with the objective of creating affordable homeownership opportunities in an increasingly unaffordable real estate market. She stated that this project is a testament to The City’s vision in creating subsidiaries like AHC and CMLC and it’s a great demonstration of how strategic partnership can realize shared objectives for the benefit of our city.
Jaydan echoed Kate’s sentiment adding that the townhomes have been thoughtfully designed to respond to a pressing need for housing while also contributing positively to the Albert Park/Radisson Heights community. The homes will range in size from one to five bedrooms and will be owner-occupied.
The surrounding community will benefit from dedicated green space on approximately three acres featuring a fenced off-leash dog park, basketball courts, a playground, and gathering spaces. Site servicing work will continue throughout the summer and we’re aiming to begin pouring building foundations this fall.
